Privacy Policy

Lyra ("the app", "we") is a personal budgeting app. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: your financial data lives on your device, an account is optional, and we never sell data or show ads.

Data stored on your device

Everything you enter in Lyra — transactions, budgets, recurring bills, savings goals, categories, and your profile (name, currency, budget period) — is stored locally on your device. You can use the entire app without creating an account, and without an account none of this data leaves your device except as described under "AI features" below.

Optional account & cloud backup

If you sign in (with Apple or a magic-link email), we create an account so the app can back up your data and restore it on another device.

AI features

Lyra PRO includes AI features powered by Anthropic's Claude models, accessed through our own server function — your device never talks to Anthropic directly, and no account identity is attached to these requests beyond what is needed to enforce rate limits.

This data is used only to produce the result you asked for (insights, a parsed receipt, parsed transactions). We do not use it for advertising or to build profiles. You choose when these features run — nothing is sent in the background.

Before any AI feature sends data for the first time, the app shows a disclosure that names exactly what will be sent and that it goes to Anthropic's Claude, and asks for your explicit permission — nothing is transmitted unless you agree. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Settings → AI Data Processing, after which AI features will ask again before sending anything. Anthropic acts as our service provider and provides the same or equal protection of your data as described in this policy; it processes the data only to return your result and does not use it to train its models.

Subscriptions

PRO subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history (no name, email, or financial records). Payment details are handled entirely by Apple — we never see them.

What we do NOT do

Data retention & deletion

Security

Cloud data is stored with row-level security so only your authenticated session can access your backup. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage (Keychain). Data travels over HTTPS.

Children

Lyra is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
